Fun Things to do at Ocean Lakes Campground
Spending your vacation at Ocean Lakes Campground is a win-win-win for your whole family. There is so much to see and do, you might not have time to take it all in. So, let’s dive right into the fun things to do at Ocean Lakes Campground!
Fun in the Water – Whether you prefer the beach or the pool, we’ve got you covered. Beach accesses – more than a dozen and if you have someone who needs wheelchair access, you can rent a beach wheelchair at the Ocean Lakes Recreation Office. Beachy times for everyone in your group! Prefer the pool? There are a few! Ocean Lakes Campground features an indoor pool, an Olympic-sized outdoor pool with a large sun deck and two kiddie pools. Like some play with your splash time? You can float along on the Adventure River (lazy river), slide down The Tube or race each other on the Drop Zone Mat Racer. Don’t forget the Splash Zone with fun things to climb on, water guns and more for the kiddos. For the littles, there’s the Tad Pool to keep them entertained. All-in-all, over three acres of fun in the water (not including the beach).
Games and Play Time – When you’re done at the water park, check out the 18-hole mini golf course. Or you can get your play on in the Sandy Harbor Games Arcade. The arcade features 84 games from the newest and greatest video games to old favorites. There are also two ocean-front playgrounds, shuffleboard, horseshoes, bocce ball, volleyball, basketball and ping pong. Don’t forget the SDU Skate Park for skateboarding fun or rent a bicycle to explore the park.
Fishing – You can fish in any of the lakes at Ocean Lakes. We stock our lakes with carp, bass, catfish and bream. If you want to go surf fishing in the ocean, you’ll need a permit/license, however you don’t need one within Ocean Lakes as it is private property.
Discovery Time – Who says you can’t have fun and learn something at the same time? Check out the Nature Center Discovery Lab – focused on marine life of the area. You can also get a great shell hunting guide for combing the beach in search of shells. And don’t miss the interactive “Dig and Discover” zone right outside of the Discovery Lab by Magnolia Lake.
Rec Center – We can’t leave out the Ocean Lakes Recreation Center! It’s the home of special shows, crafts, dances, bingo, meetings, church services and more! Keep an eye on the rec center schedule to see what is coming up during your stay!
